The quality of new cars and trucks increased a solid 6 percent in the most recent J.D. Power and Associates survey despite the vehicles' growing complexity.

J.D. Power and Associates on Wednesday released its annual survey of initial quality for 2008 model year vehicles, based on questionnaires from more than 81,500 new-vehicle owners.
STUTTGART, Germany, June 4 -- Mercedes-Benz is one of the most successful auto brands in this year's Initial Quality Study conducted by U.S. market research company J.D. Power and Associates.
Honda and Porsche lead the pack in J.D. Power and Associates' annual ranking of initial vehicle quality. Porsche is the top brand, with the fewest reported problems per vehicle. Honda has winners in three segments, more than any other nameplate.
