For five Loyola students, what was supposed to be a night of fun ended up slipping into trouble. On a Saturday night during the fall semester, Tyler Yee, Chris Tavera, Luis Fernandez and Martin French decided to build a homemade Slip N' Slide. Yee, theater sophomore, said they taped heavy-duty garbage bags to the third floor of Biever Hall south to create the 20-foot-long slide.
Recent increases in dorm rule violations are pushing the Residential Life staff to levy a mounting pile of fines against residents. Biever Hall has seen a number of widely talked-about incidents this year, including a Slip N' Slide in one floor's hallway, a torn-down water fountain, a fight between two girls and reccurring false fire alarms.
Marcia "Cissy" Petty, vice president for Student Affairs and associate provost, confirmed that beginning fall 2008, the incoming freshmen class will be required to live on campus their freshmen and sophomore years. According to Petty, the plan was introduced almost two years ago and was initiated at the President's Cabinet.

The results are in for the spring 2008 Student Government Association elections, with Cade Cypriano and Ashley Shabankereh stepping into place as president and vice president-elect. The presidential and vice presidential elections were unusual this year because candidates for both offices ran unopposed.
I have been a police officer for seven years. I have worked for agencies in the New Orleans metropolitan area before coming to Loyola, and in that time, have seen my share of sights that most people only read or hear about. Every police officer has his or her pet peeves.
Dear Editor: I sent a letter last week to inform you that the Sudoku puzzle you published in the Feb. 29, 2008 Maroon had no solution. Now I look at the March 7, 2008 issue of The Maroon to find that you've published the SAME Sudoku you published last week.
